City Car Rental Thessaloniki Terms and Conditions
Driver's License: The driver must hold a valid driving licence for at least one year before the rental start date. The licence must be issued by an EU Member State or be an international driving licence.
Driver's Age and Insurance: The minimum age is 21 for small vehicle categories and 23 for all other categories. Drivers aged 21–22 and 75–84 may select Basic Coverage only and an additional fee of €25 per reservation applies. Full Insurance is available only to drivers aged 23–74. For SUV categories the minimum age is 25. Full insurance with zero excess does not apply to large vehicle categories.
Guarantee, Rental Period and Fuel: A credit or debit card is required for guarantee purposes. The minimum rental period is one day (24 hours). Delay beyond 24 hours is charged at 2/6 of the daily rate per hour; after two hours a full day is charged. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up; otherwise refuelling and fuel are charged according to the price list.
Mileage: Rentals of up to and including 4 rental days include 150 km per rental day. A 4-day rental therefore includes up to 600 km in total. Rentals of 5 days or more include unlimited kilometres. Excess mileage is charged according to the vehicle category, from €0.10 to €0.30 per kilometre.
Ferry Transport and Use of Vehicle: Ferry transport is permitted within Greece. Rental vehicles may be driven exclusively within Greece. Taking a vehicle outside Greece is strictly prohibited. Any unauthorised cross-border use voids all insurance coverage and the renter remains fully liable for any loss, damage, fines, repatriation and related costs.
Vehicle Changes and One-Way Rentals: In exceptional cases, the company may replace the booked vehicle only with a vehicle of a higher category. One-way rentals within Greece require prior agreement by the lessor.
Insurance Coverage: The coverage applicable to the rental is the coverage selected and stated in the rental agreement.
Basic Coverage includes third-party liability, fire protection, theft protection, roadside assistance and coverage for natural phenomena. Damage to the rented vehicle is not covered.
Full Insurance, available only to drivers aged 23–74, includes coverage for damage to the rented vehicle, third-party liability, fire protection, theft protection, roadside assistance, natural phenomena and ferry transport within Greece.
Insurance Exclusions and Renter Responsibility: No insurance coverage applies to damage to the underside of the vehicle, mirrors, tyres or wheels; intentional misuse; use on unauthorised roads or dirt tracks; alcohol or drug use; traffic-law violations; unauthorised drivers; or an accident not immediately reported to the Police, the insurance company and City Car Rental. In all these cases, the renter remains fully liable.
Regardless of the selected coverage, the renter is responsible for loss or damage to keys and spare keys, damage caused by incorrect fuel use, damage to seats or excessive dirt inside the vehicle, and damage caused by transporting animals without a proper carrier.
Traffic Fines, Payments and Cancellation: The renter is responsible for all traffic fines and related consequences. Payments may be made by cash at pick-up, accepted credit/debit cards or bank deposit. Cancellations must be communicated by email or telephone. Refunds are: 100% for cancellation at least 21 days before pick-up; 50% for 15–21 days; 30% for 7–14 days; no refund less than 7 days before pick-up. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Thessaloniki.

We process identification and driving-licence data, contact and reservation data, payment data, insurance and incident data, and, where necessary, vehicle location data from the GPS device installed in the vehicle. The purposes are to conclude and perform the rental agreement, provide insurance and roadside assistance, comply with legal obligations, prevent and investigate theft, protect the vehicle and fleet, locate a vehicle in the event of theft, non-return, delay or serious contractual breach, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
The legal bases are performance of the rental agreement, compliance with legal obligations and, where applicable, City Car Rental’s legitimate interests in vehicle, fleet and fraud protection. Optional marketing communications are sent only where the customer has given separate consent and may be withdrawn at any time.
Access to GPS location data is restricted to authorised personnel and is used only where necessary for the above purposes. Data may be shared, when necessary and lawful, with insurers, payment providers, roadside-assistance and IT/GPS service providers acting on our behalf, and competent public, police or judicial authorities. Data are retained only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes and for applicable legal, tax and limitation periods.
The renter may, subject to applicable law, request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and may lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
